1. You must read the question properly?
It may sound obvious but you must read the question properly? You’ll be surprised to know how even the most intelligent friend of yours may miss the smallest details.
It’s not an error meaning you’re incapable; it’s simply a result of being in a very pressured environment.
Take a deep breath before you begin your paper and approach it during a calm and logical manner.
Read the questions multiple times before you start writing your answers on the paper.

2. Choose your answers carefully
Often, especially during a literature based exam, there are often several choices of question to answer.
Not all of them will need completion but it’s important you answer those on which you’re highly confident.
It’s always useful to take a thorough look of the entire paper before you finally begin writing answers.
By doing this, you might also land up finding the easy questions which you can answer first.
This will give you a mental advantage and also help you to secure some marks in the beginning.
It will also offer you the chance to assess which questions, if any, you will not be able to answer.
Finally, if you’ve been expecting a particular question but it doesn’t appear on the paper then don’t try to use your learning and forcefully use it in some other question.
Bottom line; always confirm you’re answering the question you’ve been asked.
3. Don’t let yourself get distracted
It’s easy to get distracted while attempting your paper. Maybe you’ve just come up against a very tricky question and end up losing your concentration due to that.
Perhaps within the time between each question you search and see people scribbling away furiously and choose to spend the subsequent five minutes checking round the entire exam hall.
Easier said than doe but it’s crucial you specialise in nothing else aside from your own performance.
Simply because the person next to you has written three pages within the half hour doesn’t mean you’re doing something wrong.
Maybe they require more space to write the same content. Or consider this – maybe what they’re writing is wrong.
4. Poor time management
Time is of the essence in an exam. It’s important you spend an appropriate amount of your time on each question.
As mentioned, setting aside five minutes to see through the test paper initially so as to get an idea of the difficulty and allow your brain the time to get into the EXAM MODE.
The questions are numbered but it doesn’t mean that’s the order you ought to answer them in.
It’s worth listening to the mark allocation as a guide – the less the marks, the less detail and fewer time required to answer the question.
Finally, make it a habit to reach the exam hall well in advance of the scheduled time. It’s worth getting off on the proper foot at the very least.
5. Check your paper thoroughly before you hand it in
It may appear to be stating the apparent but it’s important, once you finish the exam, you must utilise the remaining time in going through your answer paper once.
I understand it’s not the first exam of your life, and you are confident of your answers. But, hey who says that revisiting your answers will do any harm?
Have you left any blanks? it’s worth attempting every question. Sometimes regardless of what proportion you’ve got revised for an exam an issue will come up which will catch you off guard.
It happens but the keys to recollect an issue with no answer can offer you no marks. If you don’t have lots to mention thereon a particular subject, it’s not worth spending much time thereon.
Just get the fundamentals down and advance.
Have you answered all the compulsory questions? As mentioned before, some papers have optional answers. confirm you haven’t just jumped to the questions you’re good at.
Don’t skip the essentials.
Have you overlooked any ‘added extras’? Particularly relevant to maths oriented subjects, diagrams, graphs and methods to demonstrate how you received the ultimate answer are often required.
Confirm you don’t lose out on easy marks if these are required.
Have you filled out all compulsory information? Don’t forget the fundamentals.
If you would like to place your name or exam number on the test paper, confirm you are doing it.
It’s unlikely; however within the heat of the instant stranger things have happened. After all, what good may be a perfect test paper with no owner?
6. Top marks
Perhaps the foremost important thing to recollect when it involves sitting an exam is that this – it’s simply a case of ticking the proper boxes.
