NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court today denied a petition asking for the National Eligibility Cumulation Entrance Test (NEET 2021) to be rescheduled to a later date. The petitioners had asked the Supreme Court to postpone the NEET-UG test till after the CBSE compartment, private, and patrachar exam results were released. The NEET UG 2021 test will now take place on September 12 as planned (Sunday).

The petition to postpone NEET 2021 was heard today by Justices AM Khanwilkar, Hrishikesh Roy, and CT Ravikumar.

According to Live Law, the bench stated, “When you hold examinations for 16 lakhs students, all considerations are taken into account, we can’t delay it.” It went on to say that changing the entire system for 1% of kids was impossible.

The court has instructed petitioners to submit representations to the National Testing Agency (NTA), which will make appropriate decisions in accordance with the law.

On September 3, the NTA informed the court that students who are taking CBSE compartment examinations will be permitted to take the medical entrance test, despite the fact that CBSE results would not be available until later.

The court stated that rescheduling the exam is unjust, saying, “Our indulgence implies we are giving pain to so many students.” It is up to the authorities to do it on their own if they so choose. When there are 16 lakh registrations for an exam, all factors must be considered.”

Advocate Shoeb Alam stated that the improvement test will be taken by 25,000 students and that he was asking a deferral rather than a cancellation.

According to the article, the petitioners are free to submit recommendations to the NTA, which will evaluate them on their own merits as soon as possible. “We haven’t made any other statements or expressed any thoughts. The authority has the ability to make the right choices.”

Advocate Sumanth Nookala filed a petition to have the public notice for NEET UG 2021 on September 12 quashed because it was “manifestly arbitrary and in violation of Article 14 of the Constitution of India.”
