BHUBANESWAR: The state government intends to open NTPC’s Medical College and Hospital in Sundergarh district in 2022-23, according to Odisha Health and Family Welfare Minister N K Das.
He stated that the medical college will begin with 100 MBBS seats and the hospital with 500 beds. In the assembly, Das said that the medical centre will be hiring for a total of 160 teaching positions in 22 disciplines, as well as 85 non-teaching roles.
The newly generated positions will be filled in accordance with the Orissa Reservation of Vacancies in Posts and Services Act and the applicable recruiting rules. The state government has donated 21 acres of land for the project, which would cost about Rs 350 crore, according to the minister. The Odisha government has also agreed to give more land and funding for the state’s second AIIMS, according to Das. “The Centre has yet to respond to my request. If the state decides to build a second AIIMS in Sundergarh, the state would offer full support,” he added.
