Night Curfew Back In Kerala

Night Curfew Back In Kerala as Covid Cases Surge

To deal with the Covid-19 crisis, Pinarayi Vijayan has declared that a night curfew will be implemented across Kerala starting next week (10 p.m. to 6 a.m.).

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan stated on Saturday that the state has seen a worrying increase in Covid-19 cases after the easing of coronavirus-induced limitations was announced. After the Onam celebration, he noted, the everyday cases increase even more. To address the problem, the Chief Minister has stated that a night curfew would be implemented beginning next week (10 pm to 6am).

“Since the lockdown was relaxed, there has been an increase in instances. It was raised much further after Onam. We have improved the state’s treatment facilities in anticipation of this “he stated

“Vaccination is proceeding at a rapid pace,” Vijayan said of the state’s vaccination programme. Kerala is the fastest vaccinated state in the country in terms of population. In a single day, we’ve been able to deliver up to 5 lakh dosages. The death rate is still under control, but the number of patients is increasing proportionately. We hope to be able to deliver the first dosage to everyone over the age of 18 in September.”

Kerala’s government decided on Friday to keep the Sunday curfew in place. Faced with criticism from the opposition and public health experts for claimed inadequate Covid-19 management in the state, the administration announced that lockdown would be enforced on Sundays, with only limited activities permitted.

Kerala has registered over 30,000 daily Covid-19 instances for the fourth day in a row when the decision was made. The state recorded 31,265 new coronavirus infections and 153 fatalities on Saturday. In the previous 24 hours, 1,67,497 samples were examined, according to the Kerala health bulletin.
