Guwahati: Lovlina Borgohain, an Olympic bronze medalist, has been named the brand ambassador for Assam’s Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), according to state Education Minister Ranoj Pegu. On the sidelines of a Teachers’ Day ceremony here, Pegu told reporters, “We are happy that Lovlina has accepted our request to be affiliated with the SSA as its brand ambassador.” SSA, Assam, MD Roshni Korati told PTI that Lovlina Borgohain was contacted to be the brand ambassador for SSA in the state, and she quickly consented.
“At her request, her participation as a brand ambassador is on an entirely honorary basis. “It’s a wonderful gift from her,” Korati remarked. The 23-year-old boxer from Golaghat district made history at the Tokyo Olympics when she won bronze in the women’s welterweight (64-69kg) division, making her the first Assamese to earn an Olympic medal.
A video was shot specifically with the boxer by SSA, Assam, according to Korati, and a 40-second teaser was released by the MD on her Twitter page on Sunday. “It was shot in Guwahati over the course of two days during Lovlina’s recent visit. She would assist in the promotion of SSA Assam’s numerous activities throughout the state,” she said.
